‘Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen, pour myself a cup of ambition…’

Based on the game-changing 1980 film starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and, of course, Dolly Parton, the Tony-nominated musical adaptation of 9 to 5 premiered on Broadway in 2009 and toured the UK in 2012. At its heart, 9 to 5 tells the story of three strong, determined women looking to make a difference in their workplace and their lives. Down, depressed and under the thumb of their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical boss, these unlikely friends set out to teach him a lesson, but learn a lot about themselves along the way! The show milks every last drop of the dry humour that made the movie such a well-loved classic while telling the moving story of our trio fighting to bring on a new era in the workplace and society as a whole.

Dolly Parton’s brilliant and catchy country-infused score – including the unforgettable title song (and believe us, you’ll find it hard to get it out of your head after a few listens!) – presents a real treat for singers and dancers. Combined with some really juicy characters, in particular some fantastic female leads, we think that 9 to 5 will be a fun, rewarding and exciting opportunity for every member of the company.
